Welliver McGuire Receives Safety Award for Third Consecutive Year
Monday, March 01, 2010

Welliver McGuire Inc was presented with the 2009 Safety Excellence award by the New York State Association of General Contractors (AGC NYS). This award is given annually based on a variety of safety-related benchmarks achieved during a company's projects that year. This is the third consecutive year that Welliver McGuire has received the honor and is one of only two construction firms in New York State to do so. "This having been the third year we have received the safety award, I would say that it speaks volumes to the consistency and mindset of our people. After all, sending our employees home safely each day is a cornerstone of our principles here at Welliver McGuire," Chairman and CEO, A. Scott Welliver states.

Companies apply for the Safety Excellence awards by verifying their training programs, an incident rate of less than 25% of the AGC average, workers' compensation experience rating and enforcement policies. "Receipt of such an award is proof positive of the emphasis these contractors place on providing a safe and healthful workplace," said Jeff Zogg, CEO of AGC NYS. The award is based on safety standards required by OSHA and the number of hours worked during the year. WMI has committed over 750,000 hours of safe work over the last three years. The AGC states that only companies "with excellent safety programs that meet the stringent minimum criteria, criteria which exceed industry standards, and also demonstrate excellent safety practices in the field," receive this award.
